The extraordinary position of the refuge can be reached by following a short path along a wooden bridge. The Josephus Refuge is found in a unique location; immersed in unspoiled nature, with spectacular views across the peaks of the Ötztal Alps and in one of the oldest sanctuaries in South Tyrol. In front of the refuge is a lush herb garden offering wonderful natural ingredients and seasonal produce. The meadows surrounding the refuge are transformed into an expanse of flowers in summer, while in winter, when a thick blanket of snow covers the landscape, they offer tranquillity – two opposites that you will only find during a mountain holiday.

A bubbling mountain stream runs through the meadows, an inviting place for a refreshing swim or for having fun along its banks. It is particularly relaxing to look out of the window of the apartment and watch the various breeds of deer as they prance through the rich forest of larch and Arolla pine, giving the scene a natural backdrop.
